While much of the East Coast has already wrapped up car season for the winter, The Metal Shop did the opposite, hosting a Christmas car show on December 20th and turning it into something that supported a great cause.

If you’re anywhere near the Eastern Shore of Maryland, chances are you’ve heard of The Metal Shop. Founded by Delmar native Rick Disharoon, the family run business has grown from a small garage operation into a nationally recognized fabrication shop known for off road builds, custom work, and serious craftsmanship. That same passion for both vehicles and community was on full display throughout the event.

Instead of a traditional registration fee, participants were asked to bring toys to donate to Toys for Tots, the nationwide program that collects new toys and distributes them to children and families in need during the holidays. It was a great idea with an even greater impact, with donations quickly stacking up throughout the morning.

By the time we arrived Saturday morning, the lot was already filling up with cars and trucks despite the December chill. The variety made it even better, from classics and modern builds to lifted trucks and daily drivers, all coming together for the same reason. Inside the shop, the atmosphere felt more like a holiday gathering than a standard car show. Christmas lights lined the space, trees in full decoration, hot drinks were flowing, and piles of donated toys continued to grow as more people arrived.

One of the standout features of the day was Sarge, The Metal Shop’s massive military themed ride truck. Fully decked out in garlands and candy canes, Sarge spent the morning giving rides over the shop’s dirt course. Watching families line up, kids grinning ear to ear, and cameras coming out for photos made it clear this was a highlight of the show.

This show was a great reminder of what the car community does best, bringing people together, sharing incredible machines, and using that shared passion to give back. It was the perfect way to close out the year, and proof that car season doesn’t have to end just because winter shows up.
